En el camino de la escuela sostenible. El programa Agenda 21 Escolar de Barcelona - This paper describes the implementation and outcomes of the School Agenda 21 (SA21) programme in Barcelona, presents the principles that inspire it, analyses their development and assesses the main achievements and challenges. The SA21 is an educational initiative that fits within the whole-school approach and, at the same time, forms part of the Local Agenda 21 participatory process. Through this programme, the Barcelona City Council fosters the involvement of the school communities in building a more sustainable city starting from their own school environment. The SA21 relies in the role of educational institutions to prepare and train individuals, thereby enabling them and making them feel able to transform their reality.
