Individualization and structural conditioning: some implications for social theory The essay discusses individualization topic in contemporary social theory. The author asserts necessity to deal the individualization processes with actor/structur classical dichotomy and he also refers to the thories that reconcile systemic balance and individual autonomy; the author also argues that it is desiderable for the future of individualization that sociology studies carefully structural influence, without considering individual liberty as a certainty. The argument will invoke the ideas offered by two currents of contemporary sociology, theories of conflict and rational choice, and analyses two recent essays of Sennett and Touraine to consider actual balance between structure and actor.
