Health psychology is a relatively new branch of psychology. However, although still a "young" topic, it has obtained important recognition over the last few years. This study attempts to highlight Italy’s present situation in health psychology as devived from the articles published in the journal Psicologia della Salute. Both the content of the title of the articles published in the journal, and the references cited in the articles published in the same journal are analyzed. The resulting data suggest that in Italy health psychology uses theoretical model referred to social psychology. Whilst, the behavioral medicine approach is only secondary. Furthermore data show a tendency to underutilize a clinical perspective, whilst the relation between health and social aspects constitute more and more a topic of interest, according with some actual health policy in Italy.
