The author makes two contributions. In the first part, using clinical vignettes, he puts together some personal reflections on the subject of "here and now" in the therapeutic process. The intent is to sustain the complexity of what is realized in analysis, between the patient and his analyst, with the theoretical support of authors such as Fonagy, Baron-Cohen and Rizzolati. In the second part the discussion is centred on the subject of the subconscious and of memory: often we ignore what has determined our story. What do we remember? How many things are we unable to remember? It is in these forgotten experiences that transference and a grand part of adult emotional life originate. The result is very important for the therapeutic process, the value given to the autobiographic story of the patient on the part of the analyst. The article also reminds us that the knowledge of the theory of the mind of the patient must not take the place of declared expectations but must find its right place in that position which lets it stay "simply" there, with the deepest and most secret needs of the other.
