In this article the authors describe the principle of the new health promotion strategy for the reduction of health inequities over the 53 member countries of the European Region of the World Health Organization. A dramatic reduction of health inequities is one of the central objectives of this new strategy known as Health2020. In this chapter the authors, besides describing the reasons that brought the European Office of the WHO (European Region) to develop a new health strategy summarize the various elements of inequity in Europe. Intervention approaches are revisited by the authors in an innovative in a new stream of credible intervention for challenging health inequities in the European continent.
