In this text the ZAC Clichy Batignolles will be taken into account. It is a urban transformation project originated from the Paris Bid for the 2012 Olympics. The bid has been taken as a chance to start a participatory planning process that will bring about the rise of a new socially and ecologically exemplary district. Taking depart from the analysis of the case, in the text an interpretation will be proposed of the conditions under which urban transformation programs can bring about the creation of new public spaces.
