Changes of Italian institutions have never been linear and consistent, swinging between autonomist e centralist pressures. This paper briefly summarizes autonomist reforms of local and regional government in Italy on seventies and nineties, until centralistic policies of institutional reorganization made by the last three years Governments, under pressures of financial discipline dictated by European Union and financial markets, which provide obligation to associated management by small Commons, Provinces’ reorganization and redesign, Metropolitan Cities’ institution, restriction of spending autonomy of the Regions.
