Paul-Claude Racamier was an artist, a refined craftsman who introduced us to the concept of mental space, creating an "atelier of psychiatry" where theory and practice could grow in synergy, thanks to the experience, sensibility, and unsatisfied curiosity of the psychiatrist-craftsman and his school, also known as the team/work group. Among the subjects of his psychopathological and clinical analysis, three of the major aspects P.C. Racamier dealt with will be highlighted: 1) Institutional Psychotherapy and the concept of Healed Institution: the desctructive functions (Thanatos) and the contrasting "talking actions" - Racamier’s brilliant discoveries; 2) his work on motherhood and puerperal psychosis. Racamier was one of the first in Europe to focus on psychopathology in motherhood and he also launched specific Crisis Teams for mothers with mental diseases and their children; 3) the study and analysis of Narcissistic Perversion: "the acting psychopathology" which denies thoughts and mental space, psychopathology that was born in the ‘90s and developed throughout the 21st century.

Keywords: Institutional psychotherapy, maternity psychopathology, motherhood, narcissistic perversion and Thanatos, talking action.
