The article is inspired by the set up of the National Evaluation System, launched starting from 2014/15, and explores the different stages of the transition from (self)evaluation to improvement. In particular, it examines the following moments: the interpretation of the collected data oriented towards the identification of strategic priorities, in order to have interpretations useful to integrate the various information sources and provide a global view and integrated; the transformation of the strategic priorities in a well-identified project hypothesis on which to direct the improvement, through an evaluation focused on specific priorities; the declination of the proposal in an action plan, in which to identify the improvements to be acted, to state subjects and actions to be implemented and how they are evaluated.
