The case of the cement plants The cement plants are part of the ‘places without function’ that characterize contemporary urbanized territories. More recently, their decommissioning has undergone a sharp acceleration following the crisis in the construction sector and the emergence of new construction technologies. The presence of unusual spatial conditions, the close relationship with the territories and the long time required for the disposal, make these complexes a fertile field of experimentation of innovative and inclusive project forms. The investigation of imaginable futures for the Cement Plant Italcementi in Monselice is the opportunity to trigger a project dialogue that leads to the definition of a strategic path for the safeguard of some values of the twentieth century and that opens up to different implementation possibilities.
