The paper explores the role of Metropolitan Authorities in the field of urban regeneration and how this issue influences their agenda. Through a comparative approach, the study points out a set of shared approaches and emergent issues. The result is the definition of the current state of the art in the debate and the limits of current tools, as well as the role and challenges of Metropolitan Authorities in this field.
