This article seeks to reconstruct the reorganization of the Italian Communist Party’s clandestine network in Milan between 1942 and 1943, carried out by Umberto Massola with the help of old militants. This reorganization, which included the clandestine press’s production (including L’Unità), encouraged other non-fascist forces to arise, and laid the foundations for the strikes in 1943.
