This article aims to introduce new developments of the psychological practice within the SSN, and particularly to Primary Care structures. The objective of the Primary Care Psychology is to contribute towards the promotion of a community psychological well-being, through a collaborative network with the general medical practice and territorial services. Therefore, the key clinical task of the Primary Care Psychology is to provide a first level of psychological care, which is accessible, effective and cost-effective, and fully integrated with all other health services, in the prospect of a "stepped care" model of psychological interventions, derived from the NHS, useful to give answers to the treatment of the Common Mental Illnesses, diseases that don’t require specialistic interventions but, if not treated, have strong consequences both at individual and social level.
