This article traces the history of the Milanese printer/publisher and bookshop Pirola, from its inception in 1781 to the events of the late nineteenth century. The aim is to examine the company’s Nineteenth-century catalogues in particular, which range from service publications to theatrical productions and scholastic/ educational texts.
