This paper aims to investigate personal and collective communication efficacy beliefs and burnout in hospital doctors. The study also aims to analyze the relationship between personal and collective communication efficacy, burnout and other psychosocial variables, such as social self-efficacy and the sense of belonging to the hospital. A further objective is to verify whether the variables considered are predictors of the three dimensions of burnout. We contacted 286 doctors working in hospitals in southern Italy, which were administered a questionnaire self-report. The results show the protective role of personal and collective communication efficacy beliefs for the wellbeing of health professionals. The perceived self-efficacy in medical communication is in fact negatively and significantly correlated with burnout, collective efficacy beliefs are negatively correlated with the lack of professional fulfillment of the operators. Finally, personal and collective communication beliefs and the sense of belonging to the hospital are negative predictors of burnout.
