After working for many years with families and multi-family groups, in a Department of Mental Health, the authors describe the experience of the group for parents of patients at the onset of psychotic disorder, patients load the Core Interventions Early, working in the same Department. The main aspects of this experience, guided by a relational systemic model, concerned the work on parent-child relationships, contextualized in their personal and family histories, and treated separately the three dimensions of parenting: exercise, practice, and the experience. The strategies through which the intervention articulated aim at encouraging in the group that reflective function, that of containment and modulation of emotions and feelings and mutual recognition that are essential to the development of an adult and parental position.
