Authors have suggested that social mix at the block/building level can enhance social interaction, but evidence is limited. This paper analyses the social mix housing project ViaPadova36 in Milan. Drawing from ethnographical data, it discusses community building mechanisms to address these questions: to what extent are they leading to the achievement of the project goal of fostering social cohesion? Are they promoting interactions among dwellers and with neighbours.
