This article takes into account the way in which the idea of responsible capitalism that Luciano Gallino derives fromt the unfinished experience of Adriano Olivetti and relocates it in an evolution that contradicts this premises, reaching up to a substantially negative result: the defeat of social responsability under the pressure of phenomena that come with overwhelming force, such as globalization, financialization, the impersonal coding of information handled by digital systems. On the one hand, this evolution destroys institutions inherited from Fordism, on the other it generates crisis, growing inequality, unsustainability. The article tries to propose another vision of the curring evolution, considering the present situation as a transition to a new post-Fordist paradigm. This transition can give rise to new subjectivities and new institutions, other than those that were typical of the Fordist society and which today are to considered irretrievably lost.
Keywords: Technological capitalism, social responsibility, globalization, speculative finance, digitalization, meaning communities, post-Fordist State.
