Without any pretense of truth, the author reflects on the contradictions, paradoxes and unexpected human experiences that have affected our planet and our times during the recent distressing Covid-19 pandemic. The author searching in Freudian history and psychoanalysis for arguments that could help believe in the possibility of human solidarity - only possible winner - hopes that the challenge imposed by the pandemic on medical science will draw attention on the central human relationship between doctor and patient, as well as on a realistic and non fideistic conception of the power of science and its advances.
