This article is an LGB parenting scientific literature critical review. In the Italian context, where LGB parenting constitutes a new phenomenon, just entered in the discussion, a difficulty is still evident in keeping ideas distinct as far as different levels of the debate are concerned, such as the scientific-empirical, the clinical-theoretical, and the ideological religious ones. Moreover is often claimed a shortage of research data in the field. Nonetheless the LGB parenting research exists, it has been going on for the last 30 years, and it keeps bringing coherent and reassuring findings, both on the LGB people ability of being good parents, and on the psychosexual and psychosocial development of their children. The differences between these families and the traditional ones need to be studied more in depth, as it is evident that their dynamics can’t be reduced to the traditional theoretical schemas. It is nevertheless undeniable that the extraordinary amount of data available nowadays is extremely reassuring about what results LGB families dynamics bring as far as the satisfaction of children’s psycho-emotional needs are concerned.
