The author describes the importance of listening the changes in the tone of the patient's voice during the session. In fact, they represent in memory, or in the notes on paper, the testimony of events, traces, delivered to the analyst in a sudden and fleeting way, to which he tries to give contours and dissolve the enigmatic plot from which they originate. The author reports two clinical flashes as example.

Keywords: Listening, change of the timbre of the voice, prosody, traces, notes.
