Neutrality is one of the aspects of the specificity of psychic work that the analytic method puts into action in the analysis. It is located in the interface of epistemology and ethics. I propose considering the idea of the work of neutrality, rather than that of a state of neutrality, and to think of it in a dynamic relation to the triad of floating attention, abstinence and free association.
