It deals with a first report of research dedicated to the tourist areas which have reached their maturity, to their ability to absorb the challenges of the market and to their compatibility among different tourist experiences. The components that motivate the tourist flux, the images of the destination area and the relations among subjects, created by the particular atmosphere of the same area, are the theme of the research. In particular, the different images of tourism are studied in each sub-area of the Adriatic coast of Emilia-Romagna, as basic elements of dif-ferent but coexisting behavioural models. The differentiation of the tourist demand would be very interesting because it would be, itself, a powerful cause of attrac-tion and then it would consent new conditions of autonomy for local population in the development of the tourist offering.;
