Because of the increasing sprawling of the computer-based communication, social scientists are asked to take into account new tools of research, able to follow such incisive and fast transformations. Under this perspective, this study analyzes conditions under which it is possible to use the chat environment for interviewing purposes. In particular the study evaluates how this new kind of interview can be able to face both the main challenges posed by Modernity and common scientific and methodological concerns. The evaluation of the main characters of the chatbased interview, based on a sample of about 200 individuals reached by computer, opens interesting perspectives for adapting inquiries to new context and new forms of human relationships.;
