Child and parents in front of surgical intervention: qualitative analysis of interviews to caregiver - The experience of hospitalization of child can be a very stressful event for the child and for his parents too. Particularly, when the child must undergo surgery, the induction of the anaesthesia is one of the most stressful moments: it is estimated that the 60% of the patients suffer of preoperative anxiety that could be predictor of postoperative troubles. A recent research has investigated the effects of the clowns’ presence on the preoperative anxiety of the child during the induction of the anaesthesia and on the parent, who is with him until the loss of conscience, as a factor of distraction. The sample is composed of 40 subjects who have to undergo minor day-surgery, assigned randomly to the Experimental Group (N=20), in which the children are accompanied in the preoperative room by the clowns and by a parent, and to the Control Group (N=20), in which the children are accompanied only by a parent. A general interview guide has been administered to the parents and submitted to a qualitative analysis which put in relief the psychological impact and the reflections on the experience of the surgical intervention of their son. It has been analysed the satisfaction level of parents and children about this activity in surgery during the preoperative period. Key words: hospitalized child, preoperative anxiety, induction of anaesthesia, anxiety of parents, clown, qualitative analysis.;
