This article brings to light the radical innovation that Erickson introduced to hypnosis with the introduction of the naturalistic approach and the concept of utilization. Similarities and differences between Erickson’s therapy and other psychotherapeutic approaches are here ficused. For the role assigned to the patient, who from a passive receiver of therapy becomes an active leader of change, Erickson’s therapy can be considered "the theory of a patient who is both integrated and the integrator".
