A lot of internet studies are currently thinking over the impact of the so called social media, whereas they were for a long time just a secondary issue within the scientific community following Norbert Wiener, von Bertalanffy e Heinz von Foerster. Even more strictly sociological versions of cybernetics, inspired to the theories developed by Talcott Parsons and Niklas Luhmann, seldom engaged in analyzing media or internet and hardly ever in analyzing social media. As sociocybernetics is a branch of learning just rooting into the appraisal of the early man-machine systems being able to self regulate, it provides theoretical instruments which may turn out to be useful to handle internet studies. Here is the main basis of the Modernity 2.0 Conference.
