The authors consider that the studies of gender are inserted in an epistemological perspective aimed to study the articulation between psychological and social processes. Also the stereotypes of gender are expression of contents that has a social origin. The study intends to answer to two questions: to) are the values of sexism, hostile and benevolent, different for men and women?; b) are stereotypes in relationship with politics of gender equality?. Some data are here presented. The study was conducted in two Italian (Piedmont and Sicily) regions on a sample of university students. Data confirm that both hostile and benevolent sexism is differentiated for gender and for socio-cultural context.
