This work focuses on the author’s first patient and on her first steps within a clinical relationship. Therefore it is called: Stepwise through the essential stages. Therefore, from the very first conversation and the analysis of the enquiry, the author quotes fragments of conversations with the neurologist and the psychiatrist; some reflections on the diagnostic language and some considerations about the relationships and the co-transference dynamics between the author and her patient. Finally, a supervision meeting held at the specialization school is described. This article (which, due to publishing constraints on space, lacks some important aspects of institutional analysis) is accompanied by reflections on the author’s acquisitions during her first two years of attendance at the specialization school (LdG - Palermo).
