Ventilation, that is an essential function to survive, is often compromised in cases of severe disability. Specialists diagnosing and treating respiratory disorders find most often in such cases an altered respiratory efficiency of the bellow, of the protection mechanisms and a modification of the air inhaled and of the feedback loop. Severe encephalopathies, neuromuscular disorders and post-traumatic ones of the spinal column are among the most common causes of impaired ventilation on which it is possible to intervene only through noninvasive aids or tracheotomy, physiokinesiterapic treatments to mobilize secretions of lower airways, antibiotic therapy in case of broncho-pulmonary pathologies.
