This article initiates a reflection on the teaching methodology in psychotherapy, starting from the proposal of a new setting of the Introductory Courses to the Systemic- Relational (ICSR) approach. The basic principle is to start from the current social transformations and, at the same time, to go back to the roots of the family therapy movement in order to recover the systemic-relational culture beyond any division and reductionism. In particular the authors revisit the contributions of the so-called psychodynamic approach in the light of new cultural and scientific stimuli. On this basis they suggest a different program for the ICSR, which replaces the centrality of the phases of the family cycle with that of the key dimensions of the family: conjugality, parenthood and intergenerational bond.
