This paper proposes a reflection on the complex psychotherapeutic intervention on children who are cared for by lacking parental figures. The Sand Play Therapy is a means that centres work on the symbolism of images and expressive skills. Working on the significance of the child's negative images triggers profound aspects of the therapist. The psychotherapist working in the therapy room with the child needs to have been trained in using the "deep probe", fishing for the child within him. For a true sharing of stories, the therapist necessarily needs to integrate and recognize the "shadow" aspects, the blind spots that dwell within him. As Bateson argues, it is necessary to feel part of the same universe in order to have a true sharing. A good therapeutic relationship, through listening and sharing, offers the child the prospective of a different reality, one where there are positive aspects as well. Child psychotherapy, due to its complexity, articulates on opposite polarities of lightness and firmness of the therapist’s conduction.
