Globalization, Rising Uncertainty and Life Courses in Modern Societies: A Summary of Research Findings and Open Research Questions

Questo articolo analizza l’impatto della globalizzazione sulle disuguaglianze nel mercato del lavoro nelle società moderne. A tal fine, esso raccoglie i risultati di tre progetti di ricerca comparativi incentrati sulle conseguenze della globalizzazione e della flessibilizzazione sui corsi di vita individuali (Globalife; Transeurope, Flexcareer). I risultati indicano che vi è un chiaro aumento dei rischi nel mercato del lavoro nell’attuale processo di globalizzazione. Tuttavia, questo aumento dei rischio non è stato distribuito equamente tra gruppi sociali, ma ha rafforzato le disuguaglianze esistenti tra e all’interno delle coorti di nascita. In particolare i giovani e le donne si trovano in modo sproporzionato ‘ai margini’ dei mercati del lavoro globalizzati. Inoltre, la globalizzazione ha avuto un’influenza sulle classi sociali e le disuguaglianze diversificata, con la maggior parte degli effetti negativi che hanno colpito le persone con una bassa qualificazione professionale e un basso livello di istruzione. Nonostante l’uniformità di queste tendenze nei vari paesi, le disuguaglianze emergenti sono significativamente ‘filtrate’ dalle istituzioni specifiche ad ogni Paese, per esempio i regimi di welfare e del mercato del lavoro. L’articolo si conclude con considerazioni sulle tendenze più recenti nelle transizioni del corso di vita e identifica le questioni aperte per ulteriori ricerche.
