This paper considers the evolution of the management system of industrial wastes in Veneto in the period 2005-2010. The trend shows an increase of both waste recycling and wastes treated before being disposed of. The percentage of incinerated wastes and the percentage of wastes disposed of in landfills decreased. The considered period shows an increase in the incidence of exports to EU Countries and the decrease of those exported outside the EU borders. Regarding the latter, the prevailing destinations are China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia and Pakistan. The final destination of these flows is however very difficult to be monitored; moreover, they often hide illegal trade. International cooperation is to be improved. Also at the national level much can be done: in this perspective, the entering into operation of Sistri (computerized System for wastes monitoring and management) is expected to enable a more efficient control of flows, which is currently too fragmented.
