This essay presents the results of an empirical research that aims at an understanding of the living conditions of the young who are characterized by conditions of hardship or housing exclusion. Particularly, this study analyses the risks of poverty and the factor of social vulnerability of the young, arising mainly from job insecurity, exacerbated by the crisis since 2008. The study aims to structure the "ideal-typical" impoverishment paths, through a comparative analysis of the social and economic condition of the young homeless, both Italians and migrants, in Naples. The choice to analyses the youth homelessness originates from the need to connect the themes of hardship or housing exclusion to the complexity of the links between processes of social vulnerability, job insecurity and impoverishment. The research on the field uses the biographical approach as a method of investigation and life stories as an instrument of survey.
