The essay was inspired by a research that involved operators dealing with prevention and safety in the workplace. The theoretical framework of the research was structured on three basic elements: the changing trajectories in the work, the analytical profile of the quality of working life and the key to the interpretation of the relationship between habitus and search field. The research had two objectives: a cognitive objective, that is to focus on the changes in the quality of work, safety and activity of preventive services, and an operational objective, that is to identify useful information to adjust operations of the service. From the methodological point of view, operators were involved in a series of focus groups that, in two rounds of meetings, have developed two major issues, divided into sub-themes: the one of "changing job" (the main changes in the organization of work, the quality of work of employees, risks, old and new, for the workers’ safety) and another one about the service activity (the relationship between service and companies, the role and prospects of prevention, quality of work of the service’s operators). In the second part of the essay are presented some significant finding emerged, grouped into three major areas: the work, the quality of working life and the safety, the three axes of the scenario we wanted to reconstruct with the research.
