Family and couple psychoanalysis demands an extension of the method in terms both of space, since its setting includes several subjects, and of time, because it deals with groups with a specific pre-existing and trans-generational history. The account of the early sessions of the analytical work with a family that is haunted by a shared phantasy of time immobilization shows the intersection between individual and family temporalities. Relationships among different temporalities appear to be more significant than temporalities themselves, thereby supporting the hypothesis of an interweaving of links (vinculos) and temporality.
