Questo lavoro prende a pretesto una review della letteratura condotta sul concetto di "innovation capability" (capacità di innovazione) per proporre una rassegna ragionata delle diverse fonti che alimentano tale competenza. Lo schema interpretativo proposto si suddivide in quattro macro dimensioni (Explore; Organize; Manage; Exploit) ciascuna delle quali contiene tre capabilities dell’impresa. Lo scopo del lavoro non è tanto presentare al lettore una review esaustiva ed esauriente del concetto di Innovation Capability quanto piuttosto far comprendere come la capacità di innovare si nutra di una pluralità di competenze e che pertanto nessun approccio estemporaneo ed occasionale all’innovazione risulti sostenibile nel tempo.;
