From a review of recent studies that have evaluated the effectiveness of territorial Day Hospital, the authors present the main features of Day Hospital that provide intensive interventions limited in time, and which combine the use of medicines and a variety of therapeutic modalities proposed in individual and group context. The authors also highlight the processing function of the group setting that allows to increase the patient’s ability to symbolize and to connect their symptoms to plots of thought and thus obtain new meanings. Based on these premises, the authors chose to focus observational study on the evaluation of symptoms of patients and on the acquisition of a self-function, contact and management of the emotional aspects, assuming an improvement of both aspects at the conclusion the therapeutic treatment to DHT.
