The sector of Italian ecomuseums is complex and articulated. Grouping the Italian ecomuseums into regional itinerary is an effective tool to study them, because their common features resulted from the analysis for grouping on a geographic criterion. Several Italian regions issued specific laws defining characteristics and requirements for the identification of ecomuseums at regional level. Other Italian Regions are going towards this direction. Moreover, common characters of the ecomuseums are the result of the same historical-cultural matrix belonging to the same geographic region. The aim of the analysis is to detect and highlight these common characteristics, also to present a revised map of Italian ecomuseums
