The essay intends with a thorough and motivated analysis not only to propose the analysis of the transformations that have taken place in the work but also to demonstrate how the Journal has, step by step and in different ways, accompanied such transformations. In this path, Sociologia del lavoro has always been retaining its excellence and been maintaining direct contact with the changing reality, giving it a scrupulous and polyphonic reading. The essay ends with the analysis of what the author calls "missed opportunities" in a world where ever deeper and more rapid transformations were affecting as never on the world of production, employment and labour.
