At the 2018 Conference of the Italian Evaluation Association, the newly introduced formula of the interview-session hosted a number of presentations on the experiences of those who are ‘the evaluated.’ Renate Goergen is a protagonist of the social movement, which was promoted by Franco Basaglia to reform psychiatric hospitals. Tracing back the origins and rationale of that movement, Renate shows the importance of reflection on the experience, and share with us the vision of a complex process, unfolding along original and at times unexpected pathways, in light of well-defined goals of civilization and social development.
