The article proposes a review of Adam’s case through the cognitive-evolutionary therapy, which allows to confirm a substantial agreement in regards to the "rational" therapeutic intervention that guided other colleagues in the complex management of the clinical situation. Particular attention, according to the cognitive-evolutionary perspective, must be reserved for the early experiences of relational trauma, considered a risk factor in the development of psychopathological disorders and dysfunctional behaviors. Adam’s story confirms how much his childhood experiences of neglect and emotional invalidation have influenced both the onset of the bipolar disorder and its chaotic and dramatic marital affair.
