Since the end of World War II, the Scandinavian term "rettsosiologi" has denoted a heterogeneous series of pieces of research engaging scholars trained in theory of law, sociological and psychological theory. While Geiger’s contributions were of great significance, Aubert’s, Eckhoff’s and Goldschmidt’s efforts were no less remarkable. In these latter sociologists’ works, theoretical investigations and empirical research intertwine. Ross’s authoritative legal philosophy rose up against the flourishing of the legal-sociological studies.
