L’urbanizzazione costituisce una tendenza globale. Entro il 2050 si prevede che il 70% della popolazione mondiale vivrà nelle città, sistemi che sono i principali responsabili del cambiamento climatico e del consumo delle risorse naturali. Il contributo descrive l’approccio metodologico e pedagogico di MetroLab, quale corso pensato per esplorare i temi della formazione orientata allo sviluppo sostenibile. Attraverso i risultati del lavoro degli studenti in un corso MetroLab svolto in un’università straniera con studenti internazionali si riflette sulle sfide poste dalla città contemporanea, sul bisogno di cambiamento radicale e innovazione, e su come queste necessità richiedano ai futuri planners creatività, nuove conoscenze e abilità.
