This article deals with some theoretical aspects of educational poverty. In the first part it pre-sents a summary of the main definitions of the concept and the link between economic poverty and educational poverty. Then, the work reflects on how the Capability Approach can help to define this concept. The point of view of capabilities can offer information to better understand the problem, but also to define principles that inspire intervention measures.
