The emergence of meat alternatives (not-meat) and alternative meats (newmeat) on the agri-food market requires a regulatory response for consumer protection and does not ignore the impact on agriculture. While in other non-European systems a disciplinary line is beginning to be defined, and in some European countries there are regulations in place to limit the use of meat designations, the European Union relies on general regulations.
