L'ibridazione delle tecnologie digitali ha reso i confini e le dinamiche evolutive delle industry platforms così sfocati che la letteratura ha introdotto il concetto di industry platforms ecosystem. Analizzando gli sviluppi delle industry platforms, lo studio mira ad approfondire i futuri scenari competitivi, caratterizzati da una concorrenza tra holographic industry platforms. Sebbene negli ultimi vent’anni tale fenomeno abbia acquisito crescente rilevanza, manca ad oggi un framework che evidenzi le proprietà olografiche e le modalità attraverso le quali una industry platform può diversificare il proprio business attaccando ed entrando in nuovi mercati. Con questa lettura olografica si evidenzia la possibilità per la industry platform di diversificare il proprio business attraverso economie di varietà e attraverso logiche dominanti. La ricerca contribuisce studiando le strategie di diversificazione messe in atto dalle industry platforms. Dopo un’ampia revisione della letteratura e con l’obiettivo di evitare che la holographic industry platforms diventi un concetto vuoto, la ricerca discute criticamente il fenomeno attraverso due casi di studio: Google e Amazon.;
