The article focuses on the topic of memory, its private and public dimensions, in order to stress the importance of testimony as an act of public commitment and civil responsibility. In this perspective the contribution presents as well an interview to Mr. Manlio Milani, who survived the terroristic attack in 1974 in Brescia, at piazza della Loggia, where nevertheless he lost his wife and some other friends. The value of the public testimony is then considered with regard to the notions of acknowledgement, justice and its relation with truth.
