Several rural areas of southern Europe record during the periods of crop the arrival of thousands of seasonal workers. For many years, the lack of policies and institutional interventions has left the community of migrants in the organization of an informal reception system across the various territories, mostly based on the construction of precarious and isolated "rural ghettos". This contribution intends to reconstruct the evolution of these informal self-construction systems in the south of Italy and Spain and subsequently link them to the results of a comparative analysis between two institutional reception experiences spread across the territory for seasonal workers Agricultural - the "Rete degli alberghi diffusi per i lavoratori agricoli" in the Apulia Region and the "Red de albergues municipales para Temporeros of the province of Jaén in Spain - for the identification of critical issues, good practices and recommendations on the topic
